REASON FOR LOSS:

Extract from No. 26 OTU (Wing) O.R.B. (Operations Record Book).

The Court of Inquiry found that the main fuel supply cocks had been turned off by the Bomb Aimer when he should have turned on the Nacelle Tanks. Aircraft came down out of fuel into a small wood off Stewkely Road.

In 1980s Crash site was located in woodland and small fragments were found littering the surface. Relics included three complete .303 rounds of ammunition, shattered and burnt perspex, oxygen mask adjustment clip, a small part of geodetic structure and various other small pieces (Brownless).
