The aircraft crashed into a railway embankment at Pinions High Wycombe after recon over the Normandy beach head D-Day +2 on the 8th June 1944

The Mosquito had landed at Booker it is thought with a minor problem and had refuelled crashing soon after take-off.

A Graduation ring belonging to the pilot Walter D Gurnand marked with his initials W.D.G. was returned to his mother and is now on display at The Baylor University in Texas, both Walter and his passenger Eb Lynch of the 8th Combat Camera Unit Were killed.
