Armstrong Whitworth Whitley V T4261 DY-S Named ‘CEYLON’ 102 Squadron

Took-off at 1844 hrs from RAF Topcliffe. Ditched at 2307 hrs off Cromer.
The Pilot Squadron Leader C E E Florigny, was last seen on top of the fuselage and unable to reach the dinghy that was being blown away from the bomber by the strong wind. His name appears on the Runnymede Memorial. The rest of the 4 crew were rescued. IWM (CH 2051)
